About the Author:
Hey folks,
I’m Randal J. Belaire, but my friends call me Randy. I am from Pembroke,
Ontario, Canada.
I have always been a fan of television shows like Kung Fu, Star Trek, and
Quantum Leap and movie franchises like Indiana Jones and Star Wars among other
great sci-fi/fantasy stories. I have always been a huge fan of super-hero
comics and movies. In my teens, I used to play RPGs with friends. In 1992, we
used to play a popular super-hero role-playing game, but this time I wanted to
create my own character. Trying to give a sense of uniqueness to the game, I
came up with the design and a quick history. And voila, (that’s my French
kicking in) the Shadow Chaser came to life. From that first night, I started to
develop the character, and he has evolved ever since.
In 1991, I wrote my first story. At first, it started out as a home movie for
my school drama class, but it ended up becoming an unpublished novel. The
Knife of Jack Ripper experienced many re-writes before I finally completed
it and stored it on the shelf. In 1994, I started writing small stories about
the Shadow Chaser. A year later, I wrote The Reckoning: Chronicles of the
Shadow Chaser. But the story became a whopping 200,000-word novel. I knew,
for a first-time author, a story this huge would be frowned upon by most
publishers. After taking a second look at the book, I turned it into a two-book
series. The first book, The Resurgence: Chronicles of the Shadow Chaser will be
out soon. The Second book, The Reckoning: Chronicles of the Shadow Chaser will
follow.
When I am not working on Shadow Chaser, I am writing poetry. One poem, “Tragedy
in September” became the campaign slogan for Humber College’s World Trade Center
Memorial Committee. The former Governor General of Canada, Adrienne Clarkson,
received a copy of the poem and generously mailed me a thank you note.
I have had a passion for writing since I was 10 years old. I pursued that
interest to North Bay where I studied journalism at Canadore College. I
received the North Bay Nugget Journalism Award. I am a currently a freelance
writer and photographer. My articles have appeared in newspapers all across
Ontario and on the Internet. My most renowned piece was a five-part series on
child pornography called, “They Hide in Suits.” The feature appeared in Osprey
newspapers across Ontario.
Writing is my life, and I love telling a story. I thank you all for taking the
time to share my stories with me. There is nothing like a good read to
transport you to another world. Take care and happy reading.
Cheers,
Randy
