Alexander Taylor has been a leader in the business world for over 20 years.  Taylor started out as a professional athlete.  An amazing sharp shooter and an accomplished skier, he won four medals in American competition in the biathlon and held the U.S. title for four years.  He competed in the 1972 and 1976 Winter Olympics.  Taylor was studying for his business degree at Yale when he first encountered a young foreigner named Arthur Brown.  Brown, already rumoured by most to be the "Next Einstein", was quite feeble in size and a victim of “jock” bullying.  Taylor spotted them attacking the Brown and came to his rescue.  They formed a mutually beneficial friendship.  After graduation, Taylor never looked back; he took over his father's company and maintained his family's legacy.  He fought many financial battles and won them all.  Taylor met another Canadian while he attended Yale, Virginia Milano, an Italian beauty caught Taylor's eye.  They fell in love and were married.  At 23, he became a business mogul gaining the admiration and respect of the financial world.  Despite his good fortune, he faced tragedy as well.  After Taylor’s best friend's wife was murdered, the perpetrators were acquitted of the crime.  Taylor witnessed his friend falling into a deep depression.  Taylor knew that his friend wanted vengeance, but he did not agree with his style of revenge.  Taylor and Brown eventually parted ways, when the young scientist left for Japan.  Four years later, Taylor became reacquainted with Brown, but his friend had changed.  No longer the puny man he once knew, Brown’s remarkable physique amazed his friend.  But shortly after their first reunion, a new figure entered into the mainstream; the press called him the Shadow Chaser.  Taylor was not aware that Brown and Shadow Chaser were the same person until one night he caught Brown suiting up for a night of vigilantism.  Taylor tried in vain to influence his friend to give up his mission, but Brown’s focus remained solely on the war.  Shadow Chaser had put an enormous strain on their friendship, for Taylor did not believe in this brand of justice.  Ten years after Shadow Chaser's first appearance, Taylor received a call from his friend; Brown had been shot.  Taylor brought him to a private hospital, but the injury ended the Shadow Chaser’s quest.  Saddened about his friend's injury, Taylor was at the same time relieved that Shadow Chaser would never return.  He hoped to see his friend return to a normal life.  However, a few years later, Brown, who had lost his company, asked Taylor to finance Shadow Chaser's return.  Taylor refused, and both men parted on poor terms.  But fate was to intervene again to bring them back together at a time when Brown needed Taylor's help.  When Brown promised Taylor that Shadow Chaser would remain buried in the past, Taylor hired him as the head of his technology wing at Taylor Enterprises.  Up until that point Taylor had lived a Cinderella story, but his nightmare was about to begin.  A few years later, Taylor's wife and daughter were kidnapped by the Scorpio Syndicate.  The same syndicate that Shadow Chaser had tried to destroy so many years ago.  Brown offered to take them on with his new Mark II battle suit, but Taylor reminded Brown of his promise.  Brown vowed to stay out of it and allowed the police to rescue them.  Despite heroic efforts, Taylor’s wife and daughter were shot in the crossfire.  Virginia died at the hospital, and Margaret came home paralyzed.    Taylor blamed himself and wanted revenge.  A few months later, Taylor begged Brown to bring back Shadow Chaser.  Both men sealed a pact to fight evil and make sure that the world will always have a Shadow Chaser.
